Make yourself a compliment
How long has it been since you looked in the mirror to appreciate yourself? I’m not talking about appreciating your appearance, although you can start there, looking at your hair, the color of your eyes, and the features of your face.
But you will have to look without judging or criticizing, but rather, appreciate it with affection, dignity and respect. And for that breathe, feel the air going in and out through your nose. Straighten your body, if you need to, rest your hands somewhere, the sink counter, the wall next to the mirror in your room, but above all, make yourself as comfortable as possible. Breathe.
Now look carefully, and without judging, being your friend, appreciate and praise you. Tell a compliment that will not serve to feed Narcissus, but to affirm the value of self-love and trust, and silence the voice of criticism and judgment.
Breathe, and look at yourself with affection, enjoy your own company, appreciate who you are, everything you have learned and overcome so far, and be grateful for each lesson and challenge. Breathe deeper and smile, because you are seeing beyond your appearance, and realize that you are a whole – physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual.
Make yourself a compliment. Gain the confidence to say something nice about yourself, and listen and feel those words. In the end, write everything down on paper so you can reread it whenever you forget to appreciate who you are. Breathe.
