The Workshop is open to everyone, those who have never practiced Yoga or Ashtanga Yoga, and those who are already experienced.

PROGRAM

February 1, Saturday
8am – Meditation & Ashtanga Yoga – it is possible to meditate in 2025,  and it’s not that complicated! And yet it implies dedication and consistency, which serve to begin, and continue, meditation and Ashtanga Yoga. Ashtanga Yoga is a progressive and dynamic method, combining conscious breathing with a set of movements and postures, which generate cleansing, strengthening and flexibility in the body, while teaching how to calm the mind. (2 hours)

10.30am – Why practice Yoga? If Yoga is something so old, with more than 5000 years of life, what is the purpose of practicing something so old?Vera will share some theoretical contents that are the basis of practice, and that despite its long years of existence, are deeply current and can be taken into everyday life as an aid to promoting our health and well-being. (2 hours)

February 2, Sunday
8am – Meditation & Ashtanga Yoga – Yoga involves repetition to create mastery, stability and comfort. Because it is through conscious repetition that you will find a way to know yourself in depth, overcome difficulties and improve talents and skills. (2 hours)

10.30am – Although we have a lot of information, we continue to be affected and conditioned by stress, anxiety, depression, etc. Could Yoga play a fundamental role in helping us live in the midst of chaos? Yoga does not replace medicine or medication, but it can be an important instrument for your multidimensional balance.(2 hours)

The Workshop consists of two mornings of practice and theoretical classes full of information for you to put into your daily life. Come join!

ABOUT VERA SIMÕES

Vera started practicing Yoga in 1999 when there were few teachers and schools in Portugal. In 2003 she began teaching gradually, and it was also in this same year that Ashtanga Yoga entered her life. In 2006 she started teaching Ashtanga Yoga, and in 2007 she went to study for the first time at the former KPJAYI in South India, and from there she started 12 more annual trips to learn directly from her teachers, Shri K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Jois. In 2010 she received official Level I Authorization to teach Ashtanga Yoga, and in 2016 Level II Authorization by the current Sharath Jois Centre. Since 2007, she has been the co-founder and director of Ashtanga Cascais, a school where she has taught for almost 18 years. But in addition to the classes at Ashtanga Cascais, Vera teaches workshops and retreats that promote Ashtanga Yoga as an individual, progressive, multidimensional and deeply transformative practice. For Vera, teaching is always individual because she has to respect the capabilities and needs of each practitioner; progressive to have continuity; multidimensional as it encompasses the physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual; and transformative because it is the path from the impossible to the possible, from the unattainable to the achievable.
