The practice
I have been working with you for several seasons, exactly 17 years, to develop a multidimensional practice, which through attention and awareness allows you to live in the present moment and explore your physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual dimensions.
At first, the practice will involve effort so that we can learn to breathe, make movements and postures, train the acceptance or discipline of being on the mat even when we don’t feel like it or it’s cold, etc., but be confident and without comparisons with the colleagues who are by your side. Remember that putting your leg behind your head, or doing a handstand with your hands are just Yoga postures! If Yoga were only physical, acrobats and dancers would be great Yogis! What really matters is what is happening internally, within ourselves, practice by practice, day by day, in the person we have become, and how we relate to others and what is around us.
In principle we will not win the Euromillions, nor will we be immune to illnesses, conflicts, worries, problems, stress, etc., because we practice Yoga. But what we acquire has inestimable value, I m talking about the internal connection with ourselves, and the possibility of developing our attention, awareness and presence, which are powerful aids in bringing out the best in the human being, and that happens when we are at peace.
Practice has nothing to do with a race, nor with performing for others to see. Practice has nothing to do with perfection. Ashtanga Yoga is a journey of progression, done at our own pace and inward.
Welcome to another week of September!
