A unique opportunity in Portugal to practice and learn with two of the world’s most renowned Ashtanga Yoga teachers. Based in Toronto (Canada) and internationally recognized for their educational and detailed teaching, David and Jelena return to our Shala for a weekend of deep immersion, technique, and self-discovery.
ABOUT THE TEACHERS
Jelena Vesić
She teaches at the Ashtanga Yoga Centre in Toronto and leads workshops and retreats globally. A daily practitioner for over 15 years, she regularly travels to Mysore (India) to study with her teacher, Sharath Jois, holding Level 2 Certification. She is also a student of renowned Buddhist teacher and psychologist Jack Kornfield, and is certified as a Mindfulness Meditation teacher.
David Robson
Director of the Ashtanga Yoga Centre in Toronto. He began his daily practice in 1998 and first traveled to Mysore in 2003, where he began his studies with his teacher, Shri Sharath Jois. He returns to India annually to further his teaching and holds official certification from the Sharath Yoga Centre.
Together, David and Jelena are known for their ability to translate the Ashtanga tradition in a clear, precise, and accessible way for all body types.
THE PROGRAM
October 2nd (Friday)
6:30 AM or 8:00 AM – Mysore Style
10:00 AM – Pranayama & Meditation (Duration: 45 min)
Mysore Style is the traditional Ashtanga Yoga teaching format, allowing teachers to individually guide each student, regardless of their current level.
Pranayama & Meditation will help to cultivate a deeper connection with yourself.
October 3rd (Saturday)
6:30 AM or 8:00 AM – Mysore Style
10:00 AM – Pranayama & Meditation (Duration: 45 min)
11:30 AM – Workshop: Breathing System in Motion (Duration: 90 min)
The Vinyasa, the connection between breath and posture, is the engine of Ashtanga.
October 4th (Sunday)
6:30 AM or 8:00 AM – Mysore Style
10:00 AM – Pranayama & Meditation (Duration: 45 min)
11:30 AM – Workshop: Pelvic Tilt (Duration: 90 min)
Anatomical and practical study on pelvic orientation in the Primary and Intermediate Series. Learn how small actions in the hips drastically alter stability, spinal length, and posture safety.
Required Materials: Your own yoga mat, medium-sized towel, and notepad to record theoretical instructions.
