A Routine – purpose, mission and vision
Having a routine doesn’t mean living a boring, dull, uninteresting, stagnant, or tiring life. In fact, creating a routine can be profoundly important for our health, joy, and well-being, and a true support for growth, overcoming challenges, progress, and transformation. And if this routine includes a daily yoga session, it allows us to look at life with a focus on the present, a curious mind, and an open heart.
Creating a routine with Yoga teaches us to be disciplined, consistent, determined, rigorous, but also empathetic, joyful, compassionate, and generous. Creating a routine with Yoga helps us discern what brings us closer to our goals and what drains, exhausts, and blocks us. Creating a routine with Yoga helps us find our triad of success—understanding our purpose, mission, and vision! And with these three fundamental points, we can walk through life with guidance that comes from within.
Life isn’t a straight line; it has curves, steep descents, slow climbs, and moments of pause. And these pauses are just as important as the moments of making things happen. Yoga is a pause that helps us calm down, reflect, learn lessons, look with a broader perspective to accept our mistakes and failures, redefine changes to enhance our routine, and use it as a tool to develop our purpose, mission, and vision.
September is a great month to reflect on the routine we intend to build, because we need to remember that we are not what we think we are, but what we think, feel, and do day after day. May we use our Yoga to reflect mindfully and consciously on our routine and what we do day after day, to understand where we are and what we intend (vision), the why or reason behind our deepest desires and inspirations (purpose), and how we achieve them (mission).
