ASHTANGA YOGA, SURF & LIFESTYLE RETREAT, OCTOBER 10-12, AT HERDADE DA MATINHA, IN ALENTEJO.
For over 10 years, we’ve held our October Retreat at Herdade da Matinha, with a program of classes and activities designed to help you stop, connect with yourself, work on your body’s strength and flexibility, and your mind’s focus and calm. And to help to reflect on where you are in life and what you want for yourself, as well as learn information and strategies that support your happiness, health, and well-being.
Our Retreats are open to everyone; you don’t need any prior yoga or surfing experience.
Come join us alone, with your family, or with friends. We welcome many participants who register alone, others who participate as couples, with their mothers, siblings, children, and cousins, but also many groups of friends.
You can count on a relaxed, pleasant environment, with classes tailored to your needs, time to be alone if you wish or with others and socialize, enjoy Matinha, the beach, the hikes, and everything our Retreat has to offer.
PROGRAM
October 10, Friday
starting at 3:00 pm – Arrival, free time to enjoy Matinha.
6:00 pm – Introduction to the Retreat / Class: The Fundamentals of Ashtanga Yoga – a dynamic, physically demanding class that can be practiced by everyone, from those new to yoga to the more experienced. It is a fluid practice that combines the importance of breathing with the execution of movements and postures that build strength, dexterity, coordination, mobility, flexibility, endurance, resilience, focus, calm, courage, and confidence. (2 hours)
8:30 pm – Dinner prepared by Matinha’s restaurant.
October 11, Saturday
8:00 am – Meditation & Ashtanga Yoga – You’ll learn that meditating isn’t that complicated, and that we can all do it. And that starting your day with a practice that works on focus, attention, awareness, and presence can be what you’ve been looking for to connect with yourself, get to know yourself more deeply, and become stronger. (2 hours)
10:00 am – Breakfast.
11:30 am – Departure for the beach, surfing, or walking. Surfing will be taught by Jo Bento, a former professional athlete who will explain how the ocean and this sport can be a true antidote to anxiety and stress. You can also choose to stay at Matinha and enjoy everything this special place has to offer.
1:30 pm – Free time
5:30 pm – Yoga, Mind & Transformation Workshop – The goal of Yoga is to calm the mind so we can live a more purposeful life. Get ready to take notes because this Workshop is packed with practical content to incorporate into your daily life and transform your life. (1:30 AM).
7:00 pm – Functional Yoga Class – a practice that combines my 26 years as a Yoga practitioner and my 22 years as a teacher. It is a practice that strengthens and stretches areas of our body that are weak, blocked, and disconnected. (1:00 AM).
8:30 pm – Dinner at Matinha.
October 12, Sunday
8:00 am – Meditation & Ashtanga Yoga – a lifelong practice that teaches from experience the power of consistency, discipline, and self-love. (2:00 AM)
10:00 am – Breakfast.
11:30 am – Hike in the valleys surrounding Matinha. Workshop Your Basics – Life isn’t linear; there are challenges and difficulties that easily disrupt our focus and motivation. However, if we build a lifestyle with strong foundations, we will have greater stability and availability to consistently care for our health and well-being. (1:30 am)
1:00 pm – Free time to enjoy Matinha. END.
